The way we focus far within
Determines grimace, or a grin,
Gives us more happiness, or sin,
Both love and hatred breath away.
As Cain and Abel, men more bond,
Or less–a murder just around
The corner, or a lotus found
For friend, accruing debt we’ll pay.
We can be spring-fed brook in mind,
Or snowy plain, our words unkind,
As Ishmael or Jacob, find
Peace or war where mind’s eye may.
