Do the English love as we do?
O, yes, for I read Shakespeare loved.
Y the Spanish? Si, mi amor,
The French? Yes, I believe–if kissed–
Have passion’s flame which we once knew;
And Swiss have lust, their just adieu
With Alps in freeze, brief feel enough
To rise ‘bove crust of this, our earth,
Their hearth afire with flames anew
As brings two lives the best rebirth,
Rich as mist of sweet morning’s dew
That lifts us, one, to highest worth.
