My little girl has grown today
in fearless forte of her own,
spirit not mine, nor anyone’s;
My little girl has grown today.
My little girl is taller still
than all the peaks of highest dreams,
than degagé before rapt Rheims;
My little girl is taller still.
My little girl has outgrown me.
She seeks adventures in boys’ eyes
and has no need of lullabys;
My little girl has outgrown me.

(Note: Boy, this was a harder one for me to write than I thought it would be since my little girl graduates from college this year!)

/ February 16, 2013Awe, it’s so touching! I heard some of my relationship with my dad in your words. Congratulations to your daughter! That’s a huge accomplishment. Speaking for myself, your daughter may not need you, but that doesn’t mean you’re any less appreciated. My dad is actually being a HUGE help in formatting our paperback.
